Published in M.D.News Magazine
Stephanie and Clark with Dr. Berger during the pre-op consultation.Although tubal ligation is intended to be a permanent form of birth control, some women have a change of heart later on about wanting another baby.
For example, Stephanie Roberson, a mother of two when she had her tubes tied at age 28, was told at that time it would be irreversible. Ten years later, divorced and entering a new marriage, she and her fiancé Clark Shaw would like to have their own child in the future.
Stephanie and Clark started talking about having their own family soon after they fell in love. They consulted a fertility specialist who told them that IVF was their only treatment option. But when they surfed the Internet for more information, they learned about Dr. Berger's reversal procedure. "I researched for about a year trying to find the best in the field," Stephanie said. "I read the testimonials of many other women who had come to Dr. Berger. And when I e-mailed Dr. Berger's nurses, they answered my questions within 24 hours."

Immediately after her operation, Stephanie was alert and comfortable. The only time she took pain medication was at bedtime the evening after surgery. Stephanie was happy that she would be able to try to conceive following her next menstrual period and that the chances of her becoming pregnant would be excellent.
Rhonda Brown, R.N., making a house call the following morning with Stephanie and Clark. During a post-operative visit in her hotel room the following day, Stephanie told Dr. Berger's Fertility Nurse Rhonda Brown, RN that she was pleased her operation had gone so well and that her tubes had not been excessively damaged by her tubal sterilization 10 years earlier. "Dr. Berger's nurses are absolutely wonderful," she added. "They make you feel completely at ease."
After her check-up, Clark and Stephanie drove back home to Baltimore, Maryland.
