Tubal Reversal - Our Journeys
Tubal Reversal - Our Journeys
The author
Diana Dickherber (now Diana Miller) is a stay-at-home mom whose youngest child, Hannah Elizabeth Grace, is a tubal reversal baby. Diana, one of Dr. Gary Berger's tubal reversal patients, is the author of a new book: Tubal Reversal Our Journeys.
Why this book was written
There is a wealth of information about tubal reversal surgery on the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center web site and other sites on the internet. Much of this information concentrates on the tubal reversal procedure itself - how it is performed, scheduling, cost, and long term follow-up including pregnancy outcome statistics. Tubal Reversal Our Journeys was written to provide information about more than the reversal procedure itself. The book is a collection of true stories from women who have undergone tubal reversal surgery. These women, from all walks of life, describe where this journey has taken them. The book's purpose, in the words of the author, is "to bring alive what the journey is really like through the eyes of those who have lived it."
Who it is about
Many of the women who provided stories for the book did so after learning about it through the Tubal Reversal Message Board. All of the stories were offered voluntarily and with the permission of each of the women to publish their stories. Many of these women had provided brief insights in their pregnancy testimonials on Dr. Berger's web site.
Back book cover review - by Dr. Berger
Tubal Reversal Our Journeys was conceived so others can appreciate what this journey is really like as seen through the eyes of women who have lived it first hand. Author Diana Dickherber, a tubal reversal mother herself, succeeds admirably in this easily readable book.
The true stories presented here belie the common and erroneous belief among the public and medical professionals alike that tubal sterilization is permanent and cannot be undone. In fact, tubal reversal surgery provides a second chance for parenthood to those who have made a past decision that they now regret. Reasons for the change of heart vary and include new marriage, loss of a child, religious or moral concerns, relief from post tubal ligation symptoms, or simply wanting to feel whole again.
Reading through each succeeding chapter, one becomes ever more aware of the underlying spiritual themes having to do with life, love, and hope. According to Emily Dickinson: "Hope" is the thing with feathers – That perches in the soul – And sings the tune without the words – And never stops – at all.
This heart warming book is about hope fulfilled. It should be read by anyone wishing to have a child subsequent to a tubal ligation.
